A Shoe-Integrated Sensor System for Long- Term Center of Pressure Evaluation

In clinical, the center of pressure (CoP) is commonly used for accessing stability a person’s postural control, which highly associated with various neurological diseases and movement disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s chronic ankle instability. Such disease usually has long development or rehabilitation process requires long-term CoP monitoring. The current evaluation does not meet requirement, it often complicated expensive through either lab-based equipment clinical procedure. Different wearable sensor-based systems less cost restrictions have emerged, but their way calculation deliberate calibration positions sensors, are feasible in daily this study, we developed monitoring system smart-shoe form. First, thin flexible smart insole optimal sensor locations was designed to be compact energy sufficient whole-day usage. Then, user-friendly app on smartphone cloud-based data managing applications both home environments. Additionally, simplified estimation model created without need calibration. Lastly, machine learning-based human activity recognition method incorporated make detection more automatic. Through thorough validation test level lab equipment, our can generate measurements high accuracy.
